6,000 Pairs of Custom Socks & 2,000 Bespoke Socks Gift Boxes for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026: A Sock Republic Case Study

There are custom socks—and then there are projects where the socks, the designs and the packaging all need to come together as one complete branded experience.

Our project for the ICC (International Cricket Council) was exactly that.

Sock Republic was commissioned to produce 6,000 pairs of customized socks across three unique designs, with the finished pairs packed into 2,000 specially created boxes containing three different pairs each.

The idea was simple on paper:

3 designs × 2,000 pairs = 6,000 pairs of custom socks.
3 pairs per box × 2,000 boxes = 2,000 finished branded sock sets.

Bringing that idea to life consistently across thousands of individual pairs, however, required considerably more attention to detail.

And that is where things became interesting.

The Brief: Turn Cricket Into a Wearable Branded Experience

Corporate merchandise is most effective when people actually want to keep and use it.

A logo placed on another generic promotional product can easily be forgotten. A thoughtfully designed product, on the other hand, can become part of someone’s everyday life.

For the ICC project, socks gave us an unusually creative canvas.

Rather than creating one standard pair and simply repeating it, the project involved three individual cricket-inspired sock designs, each with its own colour palette and artwork while still belonging to the same overall collection.

The finished range included three visually distinct designs in green, ivory and blue, with ICC branding incorporated into the socks.

Together, the three pairs told a much stronger story than a single branded product could have.

It is exactly this ability to combine functionality, branding and design that makes custom socks particularly interesting for corporate merchandise, event gifting and promotional campaigns.

6,000 Pairs. Three Designs. One Consistent Collection.

Creating a few prototypes is one thing.

Producing 6,000 finished pairs while maintaining consistency across three completely different designs is another.

With knitted products, artwork isn’t simply printed onto an existing surface. A design has to work within the construction of the sock itself.

Colours, motifs, proportions and branding all have to translate effectively into a knitted format while remaining recognisable when the sock is actually worn.

For the ICC collection, the objective wasn’t merely to put a logo on a sock.

Each pair needed to feel deliberately designed.

The Three-Sock Collection

The project consisted of:

  • 2,000 pairs of the green design
  • 2,000 pairs of the ivory design
  • 2,000 pairs of the blue design

That brought the total production to 6,000 pairs.

Each design used the sock as a canvas for cricket-inspired artwork while maintaining a common visual connection through ICC branding.

Crew-length socks were particularly well suited to the project because the larger knitted area provides significantly more room for storytelling, graphics and branding than shorter sock constructions.

You can explore more examples of the format in our crew socks collection.

From Artwork to Knitted Design

One of the most important stages of any custom sock project happens before bulk production begins.

Artwork created for a screen, brochure or packaging cannot always be transferred directly to a knitted textile.

Knitting has its own visual language.

Very fine details may need to be adapted. Colour boundaries have to remain clear. Logos need to stay recognisable. Graphic elements must work around the natural shape and stretch of the sock.

The objective is therefore not simply to reproduce artwork—it is to translate the artwork intelligently into knit.

For a collection like the ICC project, the additional challenge is making sure all three designs feel distinctive without looking as though they belong to three unrelated collections.

This balance between individual design identity and overall brand consistency is something we place particular emphasis on when developing customized socks in bulk.

The Packaging Was Part of the Product

The project didn’t finish when the socks came off the production line.

The presentation mattered just as much.

Instead of supplying 6,000 loose pairs, the three designs were brought together into 2,000 custom sock boxes, with each box containing:

1 green pair + 1 ivory pair + 1 blue pair.

The box was developed as part of the overall ICC experience rather than simply as something to transport the socks.

Opening the lid revealed cricket-themed stadium artwork, while the socks were positioned together as a coordinated three-pair collection.

The result was something that felt much closer to a thoughtfully curated gift than conventional promotional merchandise.

This is an important distinction.

Custom Packaging Can Completely Change Perceived Value

Take exactly the same three products and place them inside a generic carton, and they serve a practical purpose.

Create packaging specifically around those products, the occasion and the brand, and the recipient experiences something entirely different.

The unboxing becomes part of the communication.

That principle is also something we use in our retail sock gift boxes, where multiple pairs are brought together to make the product itself feel more considered and gift-worthy.

For corporate projects, however, the possibilities extend considerably further—with branding, colours, artwork and packaging architecture developed around the individual brief.

Why Socks Work So Well for Corporate Gifting

There is a reason more brands are beginning to look beyond the usual notebooks, bottles, pens and generic promotional merchandise.

A good corporate gift needs to achieve several things at once.

It should be useful enough to keep.

Distinctive enough to remember.

Personal enough not to feel mass-produced.

And brandable without becoming an advertisement someone doesn’t want.

Custom socks sit in an interesting sweet spot.

They are practical, wearable and relatively universal, but at the same time provide plenty of room for colour, storytelling and creativity.

A company logo can be incorporated subtly. Brand colours can become part of the design rather than simply being printed on top of a product. Illustrations, mascots, themes, events and even inside jokes can become knitted elements.

That means a pair of corporate socks can feel like merchandise people genuinely enjoy wearing rather than merchandise they feel obliged to accept.

The ICC collection demonstrated exactly that potential.

What Does 6,000 Pairs Really Mean?

When looking at the finished photographs, it is easy to focus on the three designs.

Scale changes the nature of the project.

Once production moves into thousands of pairs, repeatability becomes critical.

The first pair and the 2,000th pair of a particular design need to belong to the same collection. Colours need to remain consistent. Artwork positioning needs to remain controlled. Pairs have to be finished correctly, sorted by design and finally assembled into the correct three-pair configuration.

For this project, the final packing stage alone meant bringing together:

6,000 individual pairs → 3 designs → 2,000 complete three-pair boxes.

This is why bulk custom manufacturing isn’t simply about manufacturing capacity.

It is about having a process capable of carrying the original creative idea all the way through production, finishing and packaging.

More Than Putting a Logo on a Sock

For us, the ICC project represents what custom manufacturing should be.

Customization should not mean taking a standard product, changing one small element and calling it bespoke.

The most memorable projects start with the brand itself.

What does it represent?

Who will receive the product?

Where will it be used?

What colours, ideas or visual elements make the organisation recognisable?

And how can those elements become part of the product rather than simply being placed on it?

That philosophy is also behind the more playful designs you’ll find in Sock Republic’s funky socks collection, where the knitted surface itself becomes part of the expression.

With corporate projects, we simply take that thinking in a different direction—turning a brand’s identity into something wearable.

From a Custom Sock to a Complete Custom Solution

The ICC assignment also demonstrates why we increasingly look at B2B sock projects as an end-to-end solution rather than just manufacturing.

A project can involve much more than the pair itself:

Concept → Design Development → Sock Construction → Sampling → Bulk Production → Finishing → Quality Control → Branding → Custom Packaging → Final Delivery

Depending on the requirement, the result may be a single branded pair, a multi-pair gift box, event merchandise, employee gifting, promotional merchandise or even a complete private-label collection.

Our custom socks manufacturing service has been developed around exactly these kinds of requirements.

Whether the brief involves 500 pairs of one design or several thousand pairs across multiple designs, the objective remains the same:

make the finished product feel intentional, not generic.

A Project We’re Proud to Have Made

Seeing one custom design turn into a physical pair of socks is always satisfying.

Seeing three completely different designs become 6,000 finished pairs—and then watching those 6,000 pairs become 2,000 complete ICC boxes—is something else entirely.

Projects like this are a reminder of how much creative potential exists in something as everyday as a pair of socks.

What begins as yarn, colours and artwork can ultimately become a piece of a much larger brand experience.

For ICC, that meant:

3 exclusive designs.
6,000 pairs of customized socks.
2,000 custom three-pair boxes.
One cohesive cricket-inspired collection.

And for Sock Republic, another opportunity to prove that socks don’t have to be an afterthought.

They can be the idea.
